SPRING SALE: Receive $100 Off Per Container
Very few events are as exhilarating and captivating as a polo match. With it’s blend of skill, speed, strategy, and touch of exclusivity, polo is regarded worldwide as the sport of kings.
For this week’s ‘Inside The Box’ we find ourselves at the prestigious Newport Polo in Portsmouth, Rhode Island...also known as America’s first polo club. Upon learning that Eveon had sent a pair of Corten steel containers to this picturesque coastal farm, we were intrigued to explore their new purpose on land. Our excitement grew when we uncovered that these two 40ft containers, designed to withstand wind and water, are currently undergoing a transformation into premier observation suites catering to event spectators and VIPs.
Established in 1876, the Glen Farm was well regarded and esteemed for breeding prized livestock. Today, it remains a New England landmark of excellence, with fully-restored barns, miles of fieldstone walls, ample event space and perfectly groomed polo fields. The Newport International Polo Series and Newport Polo Club have called the historic landmark home since 1992 and to date have hosted 37 countries onsite to compete.
Led by polo enthusiast and visionary renovator Dan Keating, the Newport International Polo Series organizes matches every Saturday from June to September. The upcoming 2023 season promises an impressive lineup of 18 matches with approximately 75,000 spectators expected in attendance. With international teams from across the globe and the United States competing, this prestigious event captivates attendees with a blend of chukkers and socializing opportunities. Along with weekly practices and adrenaline-fueled polo matches, Newport Polo manages charity events that help raise millions for local organizations.
Renowned as one of the most elegant weekend activities in New England, polo is a perfect way to entertain loved ones, clients, and business associates. Matches surrounded by the natural beauty of Glen Farm, exude an ambiance that can be enjoyable by all, even those who do not know how to 'stick & ball'. The event's grandeur is heightened by esteemed sponsors such as Absolut, Charles Schwab, Turkish Airlines, Veuve Clicquot and BMW of Newport, ensuring an electrifying experience both on and off the field.
“We host many corporate and private events at the Newport Polo Farm. The Eveon Containers are a perfect modular seating addition to our footprint and provide a high-end viewing option for our attendees and sponsors. We are thrilled to debut our initial two cabanas in June and eagerly anticipate the prospect of incorporating more in the future. Our order from Eveon was swiftly fulfilled, with the containers arriving on-site within a week. We are delighted," shares Dan Keating, Team Captain.
A charter member of the United States Polo Association, Newport Polo remains a model polo club, hosting matches and tournaments, supporting philanthropic causes, polo club member services and polo instruction year-round. Eveon Containers is committed to delivering affordable used shipping containers for sale. Each of our containers is wind and watertight (WWT) and fully meets ISO standards. We take great care in repairing our freight containers to ensure your items are secure and protected.
Decommissioned shipping containers from Eveon can be transformed into a myriad of innovative and sustainable structures. With their durability and modular design, they can become eco-friendly tiny homes, complete with solar panels, rainwater collection systems, and energy-efficient insulation. These containers also make excellent green offices or pop-up retail spaces, promoting reuse in urban development.
For agricultural purposes, they can house vertical farms or hydroponic systems, maximizing food production in minimal space. Additionally, they can serve as disaster relief shelters, community hubs, or even portable workshops. By repurposing these containers, you contribute to reducing waste, minimizing the carbon footprint of new construction, and fostering sustainable innovation.
At Eveon Containers, sustainability is at the heart of what we do. Instead of offering "new" or "one trip" shipping containers, we repair and resell used ones, reducing waste and cutting CO2 emissions. By giving containers a second life, we minimize the need for new materials and unnecessary disposal, creating a more sustainable future. Join us in transforming the container shipping industry—one eco-friendly choice at a time.
Buying a decommissioned container vs. a new container prevents unnecessary landfill waste and ensures containers can be repaired and reused, no matter their location. Investing in a used shipping container is both an eco-friendly and cost-effective decision, supporting a greener, more sustainable future.
Regardless of whether you are looking for affordable onsite storage, to build your backyard shed or store your hay and resources for the winter. Eveon has you covered, protected and sheltered for less.
Rust is often misunderstood, viewed as a sign of decay or deterioration. However, when it comes to shipping containers, rust is not necessarily a flaw but rather a natural patina that doesn’t compromise the structure or its function. Just as an old brick or truck with a well-earned patina tells a story of resilience and craftsmanship, a shipping container adorned with rust reflects its durability and journey through time.
Rust: A Natural Patina That Enhances the Character of Shipping Containers
While we recognize that there are plenty of items that you wish not to purchase with rust (a bike, pipes for plumbing, a cast iron pan) a Corten Steel made for oceanic transport and secure global trade logistics, is perfectly functional with a little sign of aging.
The Science Behind Rust
As many learn in grade school, rust is a chemical reaction known as oxidation. It occurs when iron or iron-containing alloys, such as steel, react with oxygen and water, forming iron oxide—the substance responsible for rust. The rate at which rust develops depends on factors like humidity, temperature, and exposure to salts. Because all shipping containers originate from China and undergo oceanic transport, rust is extremely common regardless of their age.
